Verisyse Phakic Intraocular Lens

Verisyse Phakic Intraocular Lens

Verisyse Lenses are designed for surgical implantation into the eye to correct myopia (nearsightedness). They are called phakic IOLs because the eye still has its natural lens in place. The Verisyse lenses are made of a hard plastic, a material that has been used to make intraocular lens implants to treat cataracts for over 50 years. Although Verisyse Lenses can be surgically removed, they are intended to remain in the eye permanently.

Verisyse Lenses are optical devices that function much like glasses or contact lenses. The difference is Verisyse Lenses are placed inside the eye between the cornea (outer clear portion of the eye) and the iris (the inner colored portion of the eye). Just as glasses and contact lenses correct vision, Verisyse Lenses refocus light rays onto the retina (back part of the eye). Since Verisyse Lenses are inside the eye, no cleaning or handling of lenses is necessary.

General health, health of the eyes and adequate space inside the eye are some of the factors that determine whether an individual is suited to receive a Verisyse Lens. It is necessary to meet with your ophthalmologist/eye care professional to obtain complete information about Verisyse Lenses.
